See, Devilish Southern Belle gets a gold star for today. Or a case of beer. Or a dozen Krispy Kreme Original Glazed.
Why, do you ask? Because SHE did what you ALL are supposed to do, and told her friends about our lil’ gig here. Starrlight from Here Comes a Storm…in the Form of a Girl was one of those friends.
And. She. RAWKS.
I’m totally not wimping out here, but I honestly do not think I could intro Starr any better than she does herself. Seriously – this is the “About Me” from her blog:
Who Is This Strange Creature?
Kicked out of Girl Scouts at 12.
I am definitely the poster girl for Does Not Play Well With Others.
I once named a cat after the Siouxsie & The Banshees song Peekaboo.
I like to think of myself as “vintage” goth and if you call me old, I will fork you in the eye.
I have recently decided I am too stupid to date. Self realization is da bomb.
Pet Peeves of the moment: People without basic manners. Who died and made you asshats King of The World? Leonardo DiCaprio?
Reading is by far my favorite hobby. I *love* to read and love tons of writers.
Except Ernest Hemingway, whom I loathe. Hear that, Erny? Them bells are tolling for you. Papa can blow me.
I don’t think there’s much question that she knows more about music than I. Matter of fact – there are LOTS of folks who know more about music than I – (remember, Single Malt Scotch is responsible for the name of this blog…I never said it was based in FACT! ) Hopefully you’ve realized in the past month or so that I don’t take myself (or much of anything else) too seriously. So, I’m GRATEFUL to DSB, and Starr, and Rock and Roll Mama, and Dori and just everyone who kicks my ass when it comes to Music Knowledge – seriously, come out and play you Swamis of Sound! Don’t you worry ’bout my ego – we’re all here for the music.
Okay, so where was I? Oh, yeah – Starr, her general kick-assedness (that’s a technical term), and her blog. WOW. Get ready for a magic carpet ride…she writes about what she feels, and what she does, and what she loves. Puts it right out there, tells it like it is and I love it. She’s blunt, she’s raw and she’s unapologetic. Music, books, art, causes – all have a forum at HCAS. One thing’s for sure – you’ll never be bored, and will always be entertained!
Ok so these are my shuffled songs which was much easier than trying to pick or going by most played since I have been on a My Dick kick. Too much info, I know. I blame Harold and Kumar.
Missing Persons – Destination Unknown.
Hey, Gwen Steffani…Dale called she wants her schtick back.
Ryan Adams – My Winding Wheel.
Love him to bits and pieces
The Replacements – They’re Blind.
Such an under appreciated band in my opinion. Right up there with the best of them.
The Dandy Warhols – Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth.
Local band that owns!
Blues Traveler – But Anyway.
Love me some BT.
Sugar – Hoover Dam.
LOL…Minneapolis represent! Seriously though, the album Copper Blue is so strong. Wish more people knew Bob Mould’s work.
The The – This Is The Day.
Matt Johnson is, in my humble opinion, one of the finest lyricists living or dead.
311 – Do You Right.
Ahh stoner ska skate surfer punk!
Placebo – Nancy Boy.
Kidlet’s second favorite band. I love this song. It’s so trashy.
Joy Division – Atmosphere.
Ian Curtis was amazing and gone way too soon.
Now, you know the drill. Support the artists. Buy the music.
Swiper, no swiping!
