The Jensen Project: Family Movie AND Music UPDATED!

UPDATED!  We have a winner!

Congrats to Shelly Dixon – number 4 commenter – who’ll be getting that Jensen Project DVD/CD combo!  Shelly, shoot me an email with your snail mail so the PR folks can get that in the mail to you!

Sometimes I think I should just go outside and look up, because I’m pretty sure my house must be situated under a rock. It’s frightening how often I am completely oblivious to things that EVERYONE else knows about.

For instance – did y’all know that NBC is making a concerted effort to provide movies appropriate for “Family Movie Night”? We’re not talking animated kiddie stuff either. They’re making actual movies, with suspense and plots and SOUNDTRACKS – that parents can watch with their teens and actually enjoy!

This week it’s The Jensen Project , airing on NBC Friday, July 16 at 8/7c, andstarring Kellie Martin (remember Becca from Life Goes On? I so loved that show. *sigh*), Patricia Richardson (Home Improvement Mama, ‘member?) and LeVar Burton, (who I’m sure needs no introduction.)

The flick looks good!  See:

But of more import to me than the actual movie is the music. (As you’d expect…considering the blog title and all. 😉 ) Produced by Randy Jackson of American Idol and Journey fame, it’s got some AI alums including Brooke White and Jordin Sparks featured, along with some other new artists.

I always thought Brooke was a sweetie, and that away from the pressure cooker of Idol the pure tonality of her voice would come through. I think I was right…see?

Brooke White: Take it Away

Now, the good folks at Proctor and Gamble and WalMart are partnering with NBC to bring you this wholesome family entertainment, and the DVD/CD combo of “The Jensen Project” will be available at WalMart after the movie airs on Friday (the 16th of July.  On NBC.  8/7c.).  It just so happens, though, that I’ve been provided with a copy of the DVD/CD combo pack to give away to a lucky reader!

To enter, just comment on this post.  For another entry, tweet the following and come back and post the link to your tweet(s):

And, if you REALLY want to go nuts, you’ll get an entry each for following me on Twitter or joining the MSM Facebook page (But – no pressure. ;))

I’ll draw the winner via random.org right after the show airs Friday night!

I received no compensation for this post – a copy of the CD/DVD was provided for giveaway only.  I just happen to think family entertainment is a good thing. 😉

I saw an ad for this movie at Wal Mart today. I always liked Brooke; she’s very sweet and talented.

I’m glad for them doing this. ( I don’t want to be part of the random drawing though)

I often think about the challenges of TV Shows “back in the day” without entire channels devoted to an age group. They really used to do clever things to engage full family’s in front of the TV.

I go to the church that the guy who wrote the movie and some of the music go to…oh yeah…and the executive producer used to be one of our pastors…pretty exciting to see their dreams becoming a reality. We are planning family movie night…on the couch…complete with popcorn and cuddling with the kids…they are still young enough to be excited about that. Hopefully if this whole family movie night thing continues then the cuddling, popcorn and couch time will too. Nice Blog by the way!

Family entertainment is a VERY good thing…and kudos to NBC for bringing it (their network show Parenthood is excellent viewing for families with teens as well, I think.)
