Let’s Get It On (Guest Post)

It was a lot of pressure, thinking of a perfect guest post to appease Ri’s loyal readers. I stressed. I drank. I drank a little more (what? the kids were at their dads!!!)

And then it hit me.
Everyone loves sex, right? Or at least sex sells (that’s what I hear, anyways. Really I can  be bought off with wine or chocolate but that’s probably another post…).
So, for my guest post, I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret. My super-secret-ultra-special “Doin it” playlist. Now, some of these songs may seem cliche. Some of them may seem obvious. But that magic of a fabulous playlist isn’t just in the songs but in the combination of songs and the order they come in. I make a good mix, I’m not gonna lie. But this one? May be one of my best ever.
There is an art to the mix, but there a special art to the “doin’ it” mix. Sure, there are a ton of songs that seem romantic in the car or when they come up on shuffle, but the reality of them playing while someone is whispering sweet nothings in your ear is another thing all together.
Now, I won’t go in too much detail but I will say…this list is tested and approved. Trust me on that one.
I’m just giving you the first 10 on the list. This should be a good inspiration for you to start your own. Add in songs that are special to you and your loved one or just songs that sound super sexy. Either way, start here and you have the makings of one fantastic night.
1. Sparks by Coldplay. Yeah, I know…Coldplay. (TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.)
2. Let It Be Me by Ray LaMontagne
3. Singalong Junk by Paul McCartney
4. In These Arms by The Swell Season
5. This Years Love by David Gray
6. Paint or Pollen by Blind Pilot
7. Gravity by John Mayer (I KNOW!)
8. Older Chests by Damien Rice
9. Poison Cup by M. Ward
10.Come Pick Me Up by Ryan Adams

And there you have it….some of my tried and true tracks for *ahem* happy, happy evenings. Now, hopefully you will need more songs. When making your own, don’t me afraid to re-use certain artists. My full length list is heavy on The Swell Season, Damien Rice, and Ryan Adams right now.

Feel like I left something out? PLEASE let me know. I definitely would appreciate more inspiration. :)

Wow, I just realized…you strangers sure know an awful lot about my sex life after just one post.

Onesmarmymama is a long time music nerd/snob, theatre junkie, neat freak, and single mama to three perfectly fantastic kids who like to rock out to Radiohead (the 11 year old), Stereo Total (the 6 year old), and Yo Gabba Gabba (he’s 2…he’ll learn).  She wrote this post listening to “Hold Time” by M. Ward & she writes over here.
