I’m not going into hiding or shitcanning the entire gig altogether – you’re not rid of me THAT easily. Matter of fact, I actually have a really, really, really big project in the works that will consolidate some of the tangents I often wander and just generally make good sense. Problem is, that project has been fairly labor intensive (in the background, natch), has required lots of planning, designing and strategizing and has put sort of a hitch in the giddyup of my online existence.
Or, more to the point…I need to take a step back and “get all my shit in one sock”, as it were. See the trees and not just the forest, and vice versa. Separate the wheat from the chaff. Wait for the cream to rise to the surface. (Maybe start a blog wherein I write entirely in trite sayings?)
It’s the Holiday Season. This means that in my world, making a spontaneous batch of Gingerbread Cookies takes precedence over deadlines. Dropping everything to go to a Train Show is likely to trump the prompt return of emails.
We’ve got family coming, there are cards to address, presents to wrap, there’s candy to make and eggnog to drink and charities to help and Masses to attend – and Liam is only going to be four years old for one Christmas.
I don’t want to spend this month torn over work vs. play, or stressed about not having enough time. And, I don’t want to feel as if I’ve let down business associates by not responding to pitches or review requests, et al. Therefore, I’ve decided that the most responsible thing for me to do while I feel this way is to take a holiday for the Holidays.
I’m making December “My Time.” *cue up Minus the Bear*
I’ll be around on Facebook and Twitter, but just to socialize and shoot the shit. Strictly fun this month – no posting or contests or best of lists or reviews to promote…I shall not add to the deluge of social media links with which you are being showered. Nope. Consider it my Holiday Gift to you. 😉
Now, this extends to me personally – over at The Music Mamas, the rest of the gang may well continue to drop posts on you during the Yuletide. Just don’t expect anything new here or at Snackstyle, etc. I’ll be busy spiking my cocoa and roasting marshmallows, getting ready to come back refreshed and ready to rock in 2011.
I hope you all have a most glorious month filled with love, laughter, comfort and joy.
Now, where did I put that Bailey’s Irish Cream…?
